Art History on the Rebound: Curator Tour with Catherine Sinclair

Wednesday, June 13, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Join this free tour from the OAG Visitor Experience desk.  Drop-in childcare will be available in the Hangar from 3 - 8 PM.

This walkthrough will focus on the emergence and re-emergence of certain techniques and philosophies throughout the region’s art history. Join us to explore the work of mid-twentieth century modernist artists who pioneered abstract explorations of shape, colour, and line, and discover contemporary artists working to re-engage these formal concerns today.

Following the tour, participate in a thoughtful discussion based on a reading suggested by Catherine from the exhibition’s catalogue. Click here to download the text.

Catherine Sinclair is Senior Curator at the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG). She holds an MA in Canadian Art History from Carleton University (2006). With more than ten years at the OAG, she has curated upwards of forty exhibitions and has worked extensively to animate the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art through a variety of strategies, including contemporary interventions. She has presented her work at national forums including the University Art Association Conference (UAAC) and the Canadian Women Artists History Initiative Conference (CWAHI).

Each month from May to August, join one of the exhibition curators for a tour of Àdisòkàmagan / Nous connaître un peu nous-mêmes / We’ll all become stories.
