DESCRIPTION:Show Ready: Exploring Painting and Drawing \nArtawa is a community organization that bring local artists together to collaborate\, learn\, create\, and be social in a supportive\, motivating environment. “Show Ready” is a series of free workshops that will help both the hobbyist and aspiring professional to get their work show ready. Everything will be covered\, from getting ideas together to participate in a themed exhibition\, hands-on workshops for trying different media\, and best practices when preparing works for exhibiting\, as well as pricing\, budgeting and marketing. At 3 pm\, director Antonio Coello will present his film Sietefilos\, the first full-length feature drama to be ever produced in Cmiique Iitom (Seri language). At 4:20 pm\, Darío Duarte will present his film I am the party of the dead (Soy la fiesta de los muertos). A discussion will follow. \n  \nSpace is limited and seats are available on a first-come first-served basis. Masking is encouraged. \nBios: \n \nAntonio Coello is a Mexican visual anthropologist and filmmaker. His films involve indigenous and African descendant communities with which he creates collective cinematic stories that have been shown at various festivals and museums\, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York and ImagineNATIVE in Toronto. \n \nAdbeel Darío Duarte Hernández is originally from Nuevo Laredo\, Tamaulipas. He studied Mexican Literature at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León\, where he organized a Nahuatl course with Nicasio Hernández. He is a winner of Nuevo Laredo’s Municipal Fund for Culture\, Arts and Sustainable Social Development.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on October 30th for a special Creative Sunday celebrating the Day of the Dead! From 10 AM – 2 PM in the Studio\, we invite you to participate in the creation of two special items related to the Day of the Dead celebrations. \nThe artist Fernando Trigo\, who organized the installation of the ofrenda\, or altar\, in the Mackenzie King Lobby\, will help you to create a colourful calavera (or skull) of your own design. The artist Dulce Tapp will also be on hand to lead you in the creation of an ancestral collage. \nAll activities are free and offered in a drop-in format.\nNO REGISTRATION REQUIRED \nInformation : family@oaggao.ca \n \nFernando Trigo is an architect who has carried out his profession while combining artistic and educational work\, teaching Drawing\, Design and Sculpture for 27 years. He has participated in various architectural remodeling projects\, among which the rehabilitation of a secondary school for the San Miguel Tzincapan community in Cuetzalan\, Puebla stands out. \n \nDulce Tapp was born in Mexico City\, and studied Architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
