DESCRIPTION:Join us on the first Wednesday of the month in the Studio to explore creative play that engages toddlers and their caregivers during Toddler Mornings at Ottawa Art Gallery. Explore a variety of activities that foster creativity and problem solving skills. \nOn February 1\, join us for a special edition of Toddler mornings inspired by Winterlude as we paint with ice and create construction paper snow globes! Please dress for mess! \nToddler Mornings are led by OAG Educator Wendy Moir. Wendy is passionate about art education and has taught visual literacy at galleries in Kingston\, Halifax and Ottawa since 2003. \n \nNO REGISTRATION REQUIRED\nSpots are available on a first come first served basis. She competed her MA at Carleton University in Art and Architectural History and Curatorial Studies. Currently she is pursuing a Masters of Architecture at the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism at Carleton University. She has a demonstrated interest in promoting the work of women artists\, while also advocating for consistent representation. For the past six years\, she has been curating exhibitions from the Gallery’s Firestone Collection of Canadian Art\, including group shows featuring artists such as Yvonne McKague Housser\, Kathleen Daly\, Anne Savage\, Marcelle Ferron\, and Ghitta Caiserman. DESCRIPTION:Gouache Wash-off: Subtracting paint with gouache\nJoin us every last Thursday of the month in the Studio to learn observational sketching techniques at Ottawa Art Gallery. \nIn this session participants will start by sketching in the Firestone Gallery. Then we will go to the Studio where we will use our sketches to learn how to wash-off paint on watercolour paper using black India ink and white gouache. This technique renders strikingly beautiful drawings. \nThe workshop will be led by OAG Educator Maria Gomez-Umaña\, a mixed media artist living in Ottawa whose artwork draws from experiences of becoming and belonging in a globalised world. \nArt materials will be provided.
