DESCRIPTION:Join us on the first Wednesday of the month in the Studio to explore creative play that engages toddlers and their caregivers during Toddler Mornings at Ottawa Art Gallery. Explore a variety of activities that foster creativity and problem solving skills. \nOn March 1\, let’s celebrate our animal friends waking-up from hibernation with woodland themed crafts! This month we will be creating animal puppets and masks. \nToddler Mornings are led by OAG Educator Wendy Moir. Wendy is passionate about art education and has taught visual literacy at galleries in Kingston\, Halifax and Ottawa since 2003. \n \nNO REGISTRATION REQUIRED \nSpots are available on a first come first served basis. All materials will be provided. \nThe program is free and best for children aged 0 to 4 years old. SUMMARY:International Film Festival of Ottawa
DESCRIPTION:The International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO) is a new event bringing the best of the global film festival circuit to Canada’s Capital. The Festival’s third edition will take place March 8 – 19\, 2023 in venues across Ottawa’s downtown core. \nThis year will provide cinephiles and Ottawa locals with an eclectic mix of films that have won awards and made waves in the international film circuit over the past year. IFFO programmers are curating over 20 feature films from Canada and around the globe\, along with Canadian short films to accompany each feature screening\, to create the Official Selection. Other programs in the Festival include perennial CFI series Canadian Masters (Mina Shum) and IFFO series “The Female Gaze”. \nMore info and tickets here.

This LIVE in-person event at the Ottawa Art Gallery includes a traditional dance performance by the Yet Keen Seniors\, performances by China Doll and the No Borders Drum Circle\, a raffle and live auction. DESCRIPTION:Success in the Shade\nJoin us every last Thursday of the month to learn observational sketching techniques with Ottawa Art Gallery. \nOur March Sketchy Thursday will be online and live from Colombia. We will work on a realistic drawing based on a small round object of your choice\, such as a fruit\, a teapot\, or a small sculpture. During this session we focus on the steps to make a nice composition\, and you will learn how to shade successfully using different rendering techniques. \nThe workshop will be led by OAG Educator Maria Gomez-Umaña\, a mixed media artist living in Ottawa whose artwork draws from experiences of becoming and belonging in a globalised world. \nMaterials required at home: white paper\, a 6B pencil\, and an eraser. \nGet your art supplies at the OAG Shop \nREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!
