Happiness Habits 613 and the Ottawa Art Gallery will guide the group through a creative warmup followed by some art-making time to flowy tunes\, plus an optional artwork sharing. SUMMARY:ArtWorks: Zines and Watercolours
DESCRIPTION:Join the OAG Youth Council and the YSB Youth Advisory Committee for a community-oriented Zine-making workshop series. Experiment with various art-making methods through the creation of zines.   \nOn February 14\, we will be experimenting with watercolours! We will begin by exploring the OAG’s galleries for inspiration and drawing with watercolour pencils. Then\, we will return to the Studio to create our final artworks!  \nOpen to all youth aged 15-25. All materials and snacks are provided during the workshop.  \nReservations are required.\nREGISTER HERE \nFounded in 1960\, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive nonprofit agencies serving youth in this community. More than 350 caring professionals work from 20 locations across the city to deliver a vast range of programs and services that support at‑ risk‑ youth and their families.

She contextualizes Canadian artistic practices through exhibitions\, publishing catalogues\, acquiring works for the collection\, facilitating touring exhibitions\, and networking partnerships. She specializes in Canadian art\, and has a demonstrated interest in promoting the work of women artists\, while also advocating for consistent representation. Ed) has been the Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) for over ten years where she has led the charge on the OAG Expansion project\, one of the most important cultural infrastructure projects in Ottawa for a generation which opened in 2018. Expanding the gallery significantly (physical space\, staffing\, programming\, development and marketing)\, she also helped to profile the importance of Ottawa’s cultural scene by creating a new\, progressive space for the arts and situating it on the vanguard of evolving contemporary conversations . \nAlexandra is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa and the President of the Canadian Art Museum Directors Organization (CAMDO). She is also a member of the International Women’s Forum and the Association of Art Museum Directors. \n \nRachel Kalpana JAMES lives in Ottawa and works in site-specific performance and multi-media installation. She researches\, re-imagines and re-presents marginalized histories and narratives to create new ways of seeing and understanding ourselves and contemporary society. Selected exhibitions in museums and festivals in Canada and internationally include: The AGO\, ROM\, and OAG (Canada)\, DUMBO (USA)\, Live Art (UK)\, Habitat Centre (India)\, and Quartair (Netherlands). The Canadian High Commission in Pakistan hosted JAMES for multi-city lectures/exhibitions in 2003. Her work is supported by numerous grants and residencies including the Banff Centre and On Duration/AADK\, Spain. A graduate of Carleton University and the Ontario College of Art\, JAMES is a founding member and former Director of the South Asian Visual Arts Collective (SAVAC)\, Toronto. Bright Oriental Star (2011) is in the Collection of the OAG. \n \nGillian McCann is an Associate Professor in the Religions and Cultures Department at Nipissing University. Her published work includes: Vanguard of the New Age. DESCRIPTION:The 44.4 Mother/Artist Collective presents a partnership with the Ottawa Art Gallery for the 2025 calendar year. We are thrilled to invite you to join us for the 44.4 Artist/Mother Collective Monthly Art Social on the fourth Sunday of every month from 3-5pm in the OAG Studio. These two hours are meant to spark connection and nourish creativity in the often-isolated mom/artist.  \nPlease bring along anything art-related that you’re working on! Not working on anything right now? Bring a journal to write down ideas! Have art problems you want to solve? Bring your questions! Just need a break and some social time with fellow artists and/or moms? Come hang! We look forward to connecting with you.   \nFREE childcare is available for children ages 18 months – 10 years. DESCRIPTION:The OAG’s Learning and Engagement team offers Art Talk phone calls in partnership with The Good Companions Seniors’ Centre and other seniors’ organizations.\n\nExperience a taste of the local world of art by joining us for engaging discussions about the OAG’s diverse exhibitions and collections\, where our expert guide provides in-depth descriptions of artworks and the meaning behind them. Simply dial 1-844-237-9847 to join the conversation and be encouraged to share personal experiences and memories evoked by the artwork!\n\nTHIS PROGRAM IS FREE\n\nAll you need is a regular telephone to participate!\nPhone calls take place on the last Tuesday of each month\, at 10:45 am.\n\nArt Talk phone calls are also featured in the Seniors’ Centre Without Walls program\, which coordinates a calendar full of voluntary phone-in opportunities that enrich the lives of local seniors. In this hands-on workshop\, you’ll learn how to build and decorate your very own personalized wall shelf. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience\, this workshop is perfect for everyone. Come unleash your creativity and develop new skills alongside a friendly group of like-minded individuals at the Ottawa Art Gallery. We can’t wait to see what you create!   \n3 workshops will take place every Thursday from 4 PM to 6 PM on February 13\, 20\, and 27.  \nThis program is intended for adults of all skill levels. Workshops will be delivered in English and French.
