SUMMARY:Creative Sunday: Special Edition
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Studio to celebrate Ontario Culture Days with a special edition of Creative Sundays! Explore various forms of creative play with artist Éric Mailloux\, whose works are featured in Endless Becomings\, currently on view in the Spencerville gallery.   \nÉric Mailloux’s multimedia artistic practice initiates forms of encounter that challenge our primary senses. Mailloux seeks to ensure that the materiality of objects placed in relation to\, opposition to\, and/or complementarity with one another can evoke what is fragile\, chaotic\, and ephemeral. His research is transdisciplinary and center themes related to the environment\, the visible\, the intangible\, and the construction/deconstruction of all types of matter.

SUMMARY:Music and Art Meditation
DESCRIPTION:This group offers a gentle and creative space where calming music and artmaking come together to support relaxation and self-expression. Each session starts with exploring different music styles through art—such as jazz\, folk\, or funk—followed by a meditative drawing space to help you feel grounded and ready for the day. It’s a peaceful way to connect with yourself and improve your overall well-being—no art experience needed. By blending music with creative expression\, you’ll be gently guided to slow down\, tune into yourself\, and explore your emotions in a comforting and supportive space. Come join and let’s explore music and art together!  \nThis virtual program runs weekly on Zoom for 8 weeks from August 12 to September 30\, Tuesdays 8:00-9:30 AM. Registration for each individual session is available on Eventbrite. The Zoom link will be shared by email after registration. Participants are welcome to use any art materials they’d like – we recommend a pencil\, paper\, and anything colourful that you have on hand (pencil crayons\, markers\, pastels\, watercolour\, etc.). \nLanguage: English \nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/1501963125139?aff=oddtdtcreator  \n\n1 – Mark-making to Jazz  \n2 – Lyrics to Poetry with Folk Music  \n3 – Funky Foods and Funk Music  \n4 – Music Map with International Music  \n5 – Bilateral Drawing to Electric Music  \n6 – Landscapes to Instrumental Music  \n7 – Album Art and Blues  \n8 – Mandalas to Indigenous Music  \n\nAbout the facilitator: Yuli Chen Sasaki is currently training to become an art therapist at the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy. With a background in interior design from Algonquin College in Ottawa\, she has worked in Tokyo on art installations and taught English conversation and art to students aged 4 to 70. Through these experiences\, she discovered her strength in creating safe\, creative spaces that support learning\, growth\, and connection.   \nGrowing up between Canada\, Taiwan\, and Japan as a second-generation Asian Canadian\, Yuli used art as a way to understand her emotions and navigate cross-cultural experiences. Art became a powerful tool for self-expression and identity\, eventually inspiring her path into art therapy. She is passionate about guiding others through creative exploration and is committed to offering warm\, welcoming spaces where clients can express themselves authentically.
