SUMMARY:Creative Sunday: Special Edition
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Studio to celebrate Ontario Culture Days with a special edition of Creative Sundays! Explore various forms of creative play with artist Éric Mailloux\, whose works are featured in Endless Becomings\, currently on view in the Spencerville gallery.   \nÉric Mailloux’s multimedia artistic practice initiates forms of encounter that challenge our primary senses. Mailloux seeks to ensure that the materiality of objects placed in relation to\, opposition to\, and/or complementarity with one another can evoke what is fragile\, chaotic\, and ephemeral. His research is transdisciplinary and center themes related to the environment\, the visible\, the intangible\, and the construction/deconstruction of all types of matter.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Sight\, Not Seeing
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the OAG’s Galerie Annexe on July 9 for the opening reception of Sight\, Not Seeing. \nEvening festivities will include refreshments and speeches. \n5:30 PM – Doors Open \n6 PM – Speeches (level 1) \n6:20 PM – Reception in Galerie Annexe (level 1) \nREGISTER HERE \n  \nSight\, Not Seeing \nJune 28 – August 10\, 2025 | Galerie Annexe | Level 1 \nWhat is Blackness\, and how does it manifest on this land? \nIn Sight\, not Seeing\, Black artists grapple with the tension between visibility and invisibility in Canada. This exhibition challenges how representation is shaped—and often distorted—by colonial legacies. Through diverse media\, the artists invite critical reflection on how ideas of Blackness are constructed\, circulated\, and internalized across media\, visual culture\, and everyday life. \nCurator: Sandra Ngenge Dusabe \nArtists: Jovita Akahome\, Allan André\, Banggz\, LuCille Giwa-Amu\, Felicity Hauwert\, Annita Kayiba\, Roni Kouassi\, Alex Mushyirahamwe\, Sabrina Niyigaruye\, Dion Prints \nThis exhibition is developed through the Curatorial Fellowship Program\, designed to support the career growth of emerging Black Canadian curators. This innovative program is a partnership between the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG)\, the Ottawa Black Art Kollective (OBAK) and the National Gallery of Canada (NGC). \n \n \nImage: Annita Kayiba\, A stillness shaped by history\, 2021\, digital photographic print
