Kiki Ballroom 101 Workshop

Kiki Ballroom 101 Workshop

Monday, February 4, 2019 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm

The AIDS Committee of Ottawa celebrates Snowblower (week of events hosted in winter) and invites you to Kiki Ballroom 101 – an introductory interactive learning workshop on all things ballroom and vogueing. Ballroom is an underground LGBT+ subculture in which people "walk" (i.e., compete) for trophies and prizes at events known as balls. Black and Latino LGBT+ folks were the pioneers of this culture in the heart of New York City.

Legendary Toronto based vogue pioneer, Twysted Miyake-Mugler, will be teaching this workshop. Twysted will close the workshop with a stunning vogue performance to demonstrate the art form. The event is free and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are provided.

5-7pm, Monday, Feb 4, 2019, OAG’s Galerie Annexe

Snowblower is Ottawa’s health and wellness festival for guys into guys. It is a fun, sexy, interactive, informative 6-day festival in February (4th-9th) that promotes wellness to the lives of gay, bi, trans, queer, two-spirit guys, and other guys who are into guys (GBTQ2S+).
