In Studio: Painting with Aly McDonald

Join us for a FREE youth art session! Open to youth aged 15-25, materials and snacks are provided during the workshop.   

Join Ottawa-based painter Aly McDonald and explore colours, shapes, and emotions through figurative abstract-expressionism painting. Get inspired by Charles Henry Alston, Henri Matisse, Picasso, and Francis Bacon and learn fun and simple painting techniques. Explore the endless possibilities of your own creativity and expression!

Aly (Joy-Lily) McDonald is a Black-biracial Mad Acrylic Painter and Visual Artist navigating emotions, bodily autonomy and integrity, through art. Throughout Aly’s work they continue to express their desire to fix the disconnect between her mind and body. Aly graduated Fleming College-Haliburton School of Art and Design in 2019 with their Visual and Creative Arts Diploma, and a certificate in Painting and Drawing.
