The Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) is seeking to hire a bilingual Community Program Assistant in 2022. Working in collaboration with the Learning and Engagement department, the assistant will work with a team to deliver the Gallery’s key summer programs, both in the community and online, including the OAG Art Tent, a mobile art studio that typically travels to festivals and outdoor events during the summer months. The assistant will work to adapt the Art Tent program for online and on site presentations in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions. The assistant may also provide organizational assistance to other OAG programs, including Art Camps, workshops, and future programming. The ideal candidate will be energetic, outgoing, creative, and collaboratively minded. All activities will be delivered in both English and French.

Skills & Experience:

  • Fluently bilingual in English and French;
  • Motivated and energetic;
  • Works well independently and on a team;
  • Has experience working with children;
  • Has experience facilitating group activities;
  • Has experience working with art materials;
  • Adaptable;
  • Facility with social media and digital technologies;
  • Experience with digital video editing an asset;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office computer software an asset.

You are eligible for this job if you:

  • are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
    Note:Non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.
  • are legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • will be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
  • are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
  • will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with YCW;
  • have been a full-time student (as defined by your educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW job;
  • Intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.
