Join us in the Studio on October 29th for a special film program celebrating the Day of the Dead. The filmmakers will be in attendance to answer questions about their films. At 3 pm, director Antonio Coello will present his film Sietefilos, the first full-length feature drama to be ever produced in Cmiique Iitom (Seri language). At 4:20 pm, Darío Duarte will present his film I am the party of the dead (Soy la fiesta de los muertos). A discussion will follow.
Space is limited and seats are available on a first-come first-served basis. Masking is encouraged.
Bios:
Antonio Coello is a Mexican visual anthropologist and filmmaker. His films involve indigenous and African descendant communities with which he creates collective cinematic stories that have been shown at various festivals and museums, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York and ImagineNATIVE in Toronto.
Adbeel Darío Duarte Hernández is originally from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. He studied Mexican Literature at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, where he organized a Nahuatl course with Nicasio Hernández. He is a winner of Nuevo Laredo’s Municipal Fund for Culture, Arts and Sustainable Social Development.
