Birthday Parties at OAG
Make art. Get creative.
Celebrate your way!
Celebrate your birthday with an art-filled party at the Ottawa Art Gallery. With the help of a skillful OAG Educator, you and your guests will get creative and explore exciting new forms of artmaking together!
Birthday parties are available on Saturdays and suited for artists ages 5 to 17.
Party Times
Choose one of the following three two-hour time slots:
- 10 am to 12 pm
- 12:30 to 2:30 pm
- 3 pm to 5 pm
Your Two-Hour Party
Your party time includes:
- 1 hour of guided art making
- 45 minutes for refreshments, cake and gifts
- 15 minutes for cleanup
Please remember that your booked time includes all setup and cleanup. To help the next party begin on time, your group must be fully cleaned up and ready to leave by the end of your scheduled time slot.
Choose Your Art Activity
What would you get if you combined an elephant with a salmon or a giraffe with an octopus?
Inspired by the playful artwork of Russell Yuristy, you will use clay to sculpt your own imaginary creature. Learn simple techniques for shaping, joining and adding texture before bringing your one-of-a-kind critter to life.
Get ready to experiment!
Process art is all about being carefree enjoying the experience of making art! You will receive an art bingo card filled with creative prompts and techniques. Try them individually or combine them to create something completely unexpected.
Design and create your own colourful stickers using adhesive vinyl.
You will learn how to layer shapes, colours and details as you create a unique sticker designs. Make stickers to take home and, when space allows, add one to the OAG Studio sticker pole.
Create a colourful picture you can touch!
Explore tactile textures as you create a three-dimensional artwork. Spread, shape and sculpt non-drying modelling clay onto a flat surface and watch your image come to life!
Cost
The flat rate is $300 for up to eight artists, including the birthday artist.
Additional artists are $28 each, up to a maximum of 12 artists.
Food and Drinks
You are welcome to bring your own cake, snacks and drinks. A fridge and kitchenette are available for storing cake and refreshments.
Please bring:
- Plates and napkins
- Disposable utensils
- Candles and a lighter
- Any additional decorations
A separate table will be set up for food.
OAG is a peanut-free environment.
What to Wear
Wear clothes that can handle a little paint, clay, or creative mess.
Important Information
- Parties are available in English, French or a combination of both.
- Bookings must be made at least 30 days before your party date.
- A parent or guardian must remain at OAG for the full duration of the party.
- A $50 fee will be charged when your group arrives or leaves more than 10 minutes outside the scheduled booking time.
