Look closely. What appears to be a crumpled piece of paper is actually a spray-painted illusion! Artist Gunter Nolte was known for his explorations in sculpture, drawing, and material process and like many of his works, this piece is a playful investigation into the relationship between visual perception and the physical world. This work was completed in 1976, the same year that Nolte began his 20-year career at the University of Ottawa.
