Displayed throughout OAG, NFT(s): Passages invites you to explore the “phygital” - the transition from physical artworks to digital NFTs. For these artists, the transition from physical to digital becomes a medium through which themes of fragmentation, evolution, storytelling, and alternate realities are explored.
The popularity of NFTs has exploded in recent years, providing new ways to engage with technology and forefront collaboration. NFTs offer exciting opportunities for artists and collectors alike, ushering us into Web 3.0 – a new democratized era for digital art.
This unique exhibition, the first of its kind in Ottawa, showcases the work of eight francophone artists who created NFTs for the first time for this project, using their physical work as a departure point: Audrey Bazinet alias Bazaud, Jacques Descoteaux alias Merkin-Kuva, Carole Ince alias MetaCarpe, Krasimira Dimtchevska alias KrasiDi, Denis Leclerc alias Egoklaar, Nathalie Frenière alias Mekeba, Fred Forest, and Gaïa Orion alias gaiaorion.
