Texts by Jean-François Renaud, Bruce Hugh Russell, Alain Laframboise, and Louis Cummins
As artist, teacher, and activist, Evergon, alias Egon Brut, Celluloso Evergonni and Eve R. Gonzales, is an important figure on the Ottawa scene. This text was published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the OAG in 1995, and highlights a number of works that reinforce the reputation that Evergon has gained for the originality and intensity found in his photographic production. Four essays by Jean-François Renaud, Bruce Hugh Russell, Alain Laframboise, and Louis Cummins analyze the baroque character, the mythic nature and the homoeroticism of Evergon’s work.
