Texts by Jim Burant, and John Taylor
This catalogue was published in conjunction with the Ottawa Art Gallery’s first exhibition conceived to offer a vivid reminder of the work of artists who contributed to the visual history of the Ottawa region. Representative of the inaugural exhibition in a three part series, this publication details the period from 1790 to 1879, as the region came to be known as Bytown (and later Ottawa). With texts by Jim Burant and introduction by John Taylor, this volume provides an historical overview of the region’s early art and artists.
