Press Release
Confluences: An Exhibition by BRAVO-Est Members is presented at the Ottawa Art Gallery’s Galerie Annexe from September 16 to November 7, 2021 as part of BRAVO’s 30th anniversary. The opening will take place on Thursday September 16th. BOOKING DETAILS BELOW.
OTTAWA, September 7, 2021 – This exhibition, brings together 28 members of BRAVO-Est, as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Bureau des regroupements des artistes visuels de l’Ontario (BRAVO) and highlights visual arts production in Francophone Ontario.
The works in Confluences touch on great philosophical questions—“Where do we come from? Where are we going? Who are we?” These questions are as much spiritual, such as the exploration of the light within us, as they are concrete, where the artists are directly inspired by daily life.
A 206-page catalogue accompanies the exhibition and will be launched at the opening and be available for purchase at the OAG Shop. Confluences works are available for purchase at Galerie Annexe.
“Galerie Annexe is thrilled to present, in collaboration with BRAVO-Est, the group exhibition Confluences as part of province-wide celebrations for BRAVO’s 30th anniversary. Promoting the work of regional artists is Galerie Annexe’s main goal and we are excited to be able to put the accent on francophonie talent through this partnership. From all of us at OAG, a big BRAVO to all the Confluences artists and to this significant Franco-Ontarian art organisation for their milestone anniversary.” – Stephanie Germano, Commercial Curator and Visitor Experience Manager
“Confluences is dedicated to all Franco-Ontarian visual artists. To those who supported them in the past; to those who support them today; to artists from elsewhere—whether French-speaking or simply Francophile—and finally to those who, having devoted their lives to the visual arts, have lived in Ontario, are now established there, or have deep and sincere ties there.” – Yves M. Larocque, Executive Director, BRAVO
BRAVO has four regional offices. In addition to the Ottawa exhibition, the group is also presenting Confluences exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Windsor and the 815 Gallery in Hearst (coming soon) and has just wrapped-up the exhibition at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum.
The Ottawa exhibition is the first collaboration between OAG and BRAVO and grew out of consultations with members of the Franco-Ontarian and Francophonie community in the region as part of strategic initiatives.
