It’s OPEN STUDIO time! Participants are invited to commence the creative process or bring an art project they are working on (drawing, painting, writing, beading, sewing, lyrics, whittling… you name it!). Happiness Habits 613 and the Ottawa Art Gallery will guide the group through a creative warmup followed by some art-making time to flowy tunes, plus an optional artwork sharing. This is a space for community connection, inspiration, creative expression and fun!
Happiness Habits 613 is a grassroots group in Ottawa-Gatineau created in 2015 that cultivates healthy habits in the community through the 9 Pillars of Happiness.
OAG offers subsidized creative workshops and other programming for community groups across the Ottawa-Gatineau region, in addition to building community partnerships and projects that enrich and engage the lives of our community members. Our In-Reach program gives community groups access to our Studio space to host their own events and workshops.

In partnership with Capital Pride, the OAG Youth Council is excited to present a free drop-in painting workshop led by Montreal-based artist Kezna Dalz! Join us in person at the OAG on April 16 between 12 and 4 p.m. to create a painted work that depicts what you would like to see in your heart.
Kezna’s work is characterized by raw features and bright colours, and within her multidisciplinary practice she addresses themes such as feminism, the fight against racism, popular culture as well as one’s relationship to sexuality. Her work can be viewed on https://teenadultt.com/

Discover the current exhibitions and get creative with a 3D winter landscape workshop inspired by works from the Group of Seven. This activity encourages participants to combine illustrative and sculptural elements to create three-dimensional landscapes. All materials will be provided.

Explore the current and new exhibitions and feel inspired with an oil pastel 3D-Art workshop based on works by Jemimah Lorissaint, Peter Shmelzer and Sharon Vanstarkenburg. This activity encourages participants to create stunning and complex looking oil-pastel works of art with an optional 3D effect.
