You’re invited to celebrate “International Slow Art Day” (https://www.slowartday.com) with the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) and 24 Hr Yogapalooza with a FREE Art + Meditation session.
Come experience this opportunity to leverage meditation to deepen and enhance your viewing experience and connection with art and self in this 30 minute session amongst current exhibitions and breathtaking event spaces at the OAG.
The session will begin with a short discussion on the practice of meditation and how it can help us view art mindfully, bringing a rich unbiased sense of curiosity to the entire experience.
This session will be led by a certified Meditation instructor volunteer while taking place in community partnership between the OAG and 24 Hr Yogapalooza, a group who fundraisers for childhood cancer research at CHEO. To learn more about 24 Hr Yogapalooza visit https://www.24hryogapalooza.ca.
Participants who wish to sit during the meditation are asked to bring a block or small cushion or can use a folded yoga mat (or stand).
We will be hosting the following five sessions:
11:00 – 11:30 Meditation in Firestone Gallery, level 2
11:45 – 12:15 Meditation in Fourth Floor Galleries
2:00 – 2:30 Meditation in Firestone Gallery, level 2
2:45 – 3:15 Meditation in Fourth Floor Galleries
6:30 – 7:30 Yoga session in Fourth Floor Galleries
No experience required for this practice.
Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat and water bottle.
Participants will also have time to take in the current exhibitions after the class.
Suitable for ages 12 y/o or older.

Join us in person to learn observational sketching techniques from an educator at the Ottawa Art Gallery.
On October 28, we will draw faces on pumpkins and then sketch them within the public settings of the gallery. Materials will be provided and participants will be able to bring their pumpkins back home with them!
The workshop will be lead by OAG Learning and Engagement Assistant Alexia-Leana Kokozaki, a Canadian-Cypriot artist based in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

Free kits provided. Each kit includes two fine point pens, sticker labels as well as laminating sheets. To get one, simply sign up below by October 22 and drop by the gallery the following week to pick it up!

Creative Sundays are back! Join us on Sunday, October 24th for a free family art activity. Discover the current exhibitions and get creative with a weaving workshop inspired by works from Greta Grip and Peter Owusu-Ansah. This activity encourages participants to bring together color and yarn to make weaved artworks that are dynamic and textured. All materials will be provided.
