Join us to learn more about Takao Tanabe’s practice and his work On Greener Hillsides (1958) with OAG Assistant Curator Meghan Ho in Visions and Views: Landscape and Abstraction in the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art!
Meghan Ho is the Assistant Curator at the OAG. She is an emerging curator whose most recent curatorial projects include Wilfrid Flood: A Passion for Pictures 1904 – 1946 (2023), Reference Point: Recent Historical Acquisitions (2023), and Don Kwan: Landscape, Legacy and Loss (co-curated with Don Kwan and Catherine Sinclair) (2022), which was shortlisted for a 2022 Galeries Ontario / Ontario Galleries (GOG) award for First Exhibition in a Public Art Gallery. She has an MA in Art History from Carleton University and holds an Honours BA in Art History from Queen’s University. She previously held the role of Exhibition and Interpretation Coordinator at the OAG, contributing interpretive services and administrative support to exhibition development teams, and coordinating exhibition-related discursive programs and public events.

Join us in person to learn observational sketching techniques from an educator at the Ottawa Art Gallery.
On October 28, we will draw faces on pumpkins and then sketch them within the public settings of the gallery. Materials will be provided and participants will be able to bring their pumpkins back home with them!
The workshop will be lead by OAG Learning and Engagement Assistant Alexia-Leana Kokozaki, a Canadian-Cypriot artist based in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

Free kits provided. Each kit includes two fine point pens, sticker labels as well as laminating sheets. To get one, simply sign up below by October 22 and drop by the gallery the following week to pick it up!

Creative Sundays are back! Join us on Sunday, October 24th for a free family art activity. Discover the current exhibitions and get creative with a weaving workshop inspired by works from Greta Grip and Peter Owusu-Ansah. This activity encourages participants to bring together color and yarn to make weaved artworks that are dynamic and textured. All materials will be provided.
