What do you see in this ink and wax crayon work by Arthur Lismer? In this sketch, a dynamic depiction of a forest floor is conveyed in short, quick brushstrokes, verging on abstraction. While Lismer, a member of the Group of Seven and later the Canadian Group of Painters, is known for his landscapes, much of his later work focused on close-up depictions of plant life and natural forms explored through energetic lines and a variety of mediums.
