CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
[Recto] Broad brushstrokes in various hues of blue, brown, white and grey depicts a partially snow-covered landscape of a rural town (buildings) along a river. There is a road leading from the foreground on the left side of the image in toward the town, which is in the middle ground. The river is situated at the right and is lined with brown, bare shrubs. A small fence lines either side of the road and another cuts across a field from the road to the riverbank . There are blue mountains in the background, set against a grey sky.[Verso] Muted colours are used to paint a landscape that looks over the rooftops of houses in the foreground toward a snowy hill with coniferous trees in the background. There is a tree with bare branches in the foreground, at the centre of the image. Some of the rooftops have snow on them.
