Richard Gorman
Abstract expressionist Richard Gorman knew a thing or two about the beauty of a Canadian April, where the remnants of winter collide with the awakening of spring. Here, in the Ottawa-born artist’s work (Untitled) April, we can sense the movement of a changing landscape as greens, pinks, and browns push up through the white. This canvas was completed in the 1970s, during the time Gorman was teaching at the University of Ottawa.
