Transcending Technology: Between Freedom and Surveillance showcases works by members of the OAG's Youth Council in collaboration with the eQuality Project, a 7-year partnership initiative funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The project aims to bring the voices of young people to bear on the creation of a networked environment where they can play, learn, communicate, and participate equally, free from surveillance and identity-based harassment.
The Art Exchange workshop, part of The eQuality Project, was designed to create a space where young artists could develop art-based responses to (in) equality issues in the networked environment, using art as a form of resistance. In 2022, The eQuality Project ran a series of Art Exchange workshops with members of the OAG Youth Council. The artworks arising from these workshops form the basis of this exhibition.
