OAG Collections Stories: Filmmaker Patrice James

We’re excited to share a short documentary (6:20) on the work of local artist and filmmaker Patrice James, whose work is featured in the exhibition Sheltered in Place, currently installed at the OAG until Sunday, November 7, 2021.

Patrice James has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies from Carleton University, and is a practicing media artist, with two video and seven film credits to date. She has been the Executive Director at The Independent Filmmakers Co-operative of Ottawa Inc. (IFCO) for nearly fifteen years. Ms. James has contributed to the cultural life of Ottawa for over 20 years, as a strong advocate for the media arts both locally and at the national level. She was previously named as a finalist to receive the Victor Tolgesy Arts Award in 2012, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA) and The Media Arts Network of Ontario/Réseau des arts médiatiques de l’Ontario (MANO/RAMO). She has been a past juror for the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, the City of Ottawa, and the Ottawa Arts Council. Ms. James continues to live and work in Ottawa.
