The Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) is thrilled to welcome two inspiring leaders to our Board of Directors: Megan Cornell, Kelly Wilhelm, and Melanie Yugo. Their unique expertise, passion for the arts, and deep connections to community will help guide OAG as we continue to grow as a hub for creativity, connection, and cultural exchange.
Megan Cornell
Megan Cornell is a partner at Dentons and leads the firm’s Ottawa Corporate group. With a practice focused on business law, she brings deep experience in mergers and acquisitions, governance, and commercial strategy. Known for her practical, business-minded approach, Megan works with a wide range of clients—from startups to multinational corporations. In addition to her legal work, she actively volunteers with local business organizations, not-for-profits, her children’s school, and political groups.
Kelly Wilhelm
Kelly Wilhelm (she/her) is a consultant and strategist with over 25 years’ experience in policy and innovation in government, arts, media, creative industries, and the non-profit sector. She leads a portfolio of projects as an independent consultant and is a sought-after speaker and facilitator. Kelly is Head of the Cultural Policy Hub at OCAD University, a national initiative to develop informed, inclusive, and integrated cultural policy in Canada, and Adjunct Professor in the OCAD U School of Graduate Studies. In 2025, she was appointed to the Global Creative Economy Council, an initiative of the UK Creative Industries Policy Evidence Centre and the British Council. Her past roles include Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to federal ministers, Chief Strategy Officer at the Canada Media Fund, and Director of Policy, Planning and Strategic Foresight at the Canada Council for the Arts.
Melanie Yugo
Melanie Yugo is a Filipina-Canadian researcher, artist, educator, and multidisciplinary programmer. She co-founded and directs Possible Worlds, a community-driven project space and publisher, and Object//Project Art Book Fair. In parallel, Melanie has fostered a progressive career in inclusive social and cultural public policy. Her work is motivated by the beliefs that everyone should have access to opportunities to shape cultural and civic life, and that creating, enjoying, knowledge-sharing, and community-building in art are all connected.
Looking Ahead
At OAG, we believe our Board plays a vital role in shaping the future of the Gallery and in strengthening our impact on Ottawa’s arts and culture landscape. With Megan, Kelly, and Melanie joining us, we are excited for the perspectives they bring and the opportunities ahead to further our mission of accessibility, inclusivity, and excellence in the arts.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Megan, Kelly, and Melanie!
