The Ottawa Art Gallery Jackson café announces new partnership with local My Catering Group

July 15, 2020

Press Release

Jackson café now open, catering and restaurant to open as soon as possible

OTTAWA, ON – July 15th, 2020 – With its official re-opening, the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) is delighted to welcome a new partner to the table. My Catering Group will lead Jackson café, the grab-and-go counter, as well as the à la carte restaurant and catering for events at the Gallery.

“OAG is really excited to welcome this new partnership for Jackson. My Catering Group is fast becoming the go to catering company for Ottawa,” said Alexandra Badzak, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ottawa Art Gallery. “We know they have the experience and skills to bring creativity into a menu to marry food and art, enhancing the guest experience at OAG.”

“We are thrilled and feel lucky to partner with OAG and to have a downtown location in Ottawa. This is the perfect opportunity for our growing catering and bistro company,” said Derick Cotnam, owner, My Catering Group. “Our team of hospitality professionals are more than eager and cannot wait to get into full swing here at the OAG!”

My Catering Group was founded in 2012 by Cotnam, who has gained experience working in high end restaurants, hotels and resorts both locally and abroad. Starting in the industry at age 14 he now has 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry. This enterprise started at a kitchen stove inside of a Stittsville home and has since expanded to a large-scale operation with a fleet of vehicles and a large mobile kitchen and now working with prominent clients such as Ottawa Board of Trade, Canada Parliamentary Precinct, top wedding and event planners and many other privately owned businesses in the city.

Jackson patrons can expect fresh delicious food, unique plates and dedicated service with an attention to detail. The team is working toward opening the restaurant when possible and offering catering services tailored for large and small scale events at the Gallery.

OAG will also be working with its valued partner The Ottawa Mission for catered events and partnerships, offering Gallery clients the opportunity to experience an additional and unique catering option that underlies the importance of supporting a community-based, social initiative.

The grab and go counter is currently open for coffee, snacks, salads, sandwiches, and more made from available locally sourced ingredients. Current hours of operations are Wednesdays to Sundays, between 10 am to 6 pm. Customers can access the café via OAG’s 10 Daly Avenue entrance, and can sit on the terrace to enjoy their selection. Anyone who wishes to also visit OAG exhibitions must book a time in advance on Eventbrite. Safety measures on in place. Wearing a mask inside the building is mandatory.
