The OAG’s Learning and Engagement team offers Art Talk phone calls in partnership with The Good Companions Seniors’ Centre and other seniors’ organizations.
Experience a taste of the local world of art by joining us for engaging discussions about the OAG’s diverse exhibitions and collections, where our expert guide provides in-depth descriptions of artworks and the meaning behind them. Simply dial (613) 686-1547 and enter the passcode 8 3 4 6 3 4 # to join the conversation and be encouraged to share personal experiences and memories evoked by the artwork!

Phone calls take place on the last Tuesday of each month, at 10:45 am.

Art Talk phone calls are also featured in the Seniors’ Centre Without Walls program, which coordinates a calendar full of voluntary phone-in opportunities that enrich the lives of local seniors. Mail-outs of Art Talk images are provided to those who register in advance.

Join us in person to learn observational sketching techniques from an educator at the Ottawa Art Gallery.
On October 28, we will draw faces on pumpkins and then sketch them within the public settings of the gallery. Materials will be provided and participants will be able to bring their pumpkins back home with them!
The workshop will be lead by OAG Learning and Engagement Assistant Alexia-Leana Kokozaki, a Canadian-Cypriot artist based in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

Free kits provided. Each kit includes two fine point pens, sticker labels as well as laminating sheets. To get one, simply sign up below by October 22 and drop by the gallery the following week to pick it up!

Creative Sundays are back! Join us on Sunday, October 24th for a free family art activity. Discover the current exhibitions and get creative with a weaving workshop inspired by works from Greta Grip and Peter Owusu-Ansah. This activity encourages participants to bring together color and yarn to make weaved artworks that are dynamic and textured. All materials will be provided.

Join us for a Special Edition of Creative Sundays on December 12! Led by artists Greta Grip and Lee Jones, brighten your weekend with a free family art activity where you will learn how to make a light up bookmark. All materials are provided.
This program will be presented in English. There will be bilingual programming staff onsite to help in French as needed.
