CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
The image depicts a self-portrait of the artist with a vibrant background painted in warm yellows that fade to green in the upper portion of the canvas. There is a tight crowd of skeletal figures in the background on the upper right side, painted as if engulfed in flames.Yellow and green shades are reflected onto the artist's face with red and white highlights. The face is positioned to the left side of the frame and is in 3/4 profile facing the right. He is wearing thick-framed glasses and has a grey/white beard. His mouth is agape.
