This catalogue accompanied the exhibition Jesse Stewart: Icebreaking, on view at the Ottawa At Gallery from February 9 – June 23, 2019. The exhibition is part of the Firestone Reverb series of exhibitions in which contemporary artists engage with the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art. Contemporary Canadian artist Jesse Stewart, who examines the role of industry on climate change, as well as the related disappearance of ice was paired with works by Franklin Carmichael, Alan C. Collier, and Claude Picher that highlight industrial activities such as mining and shipping. As we currently sit at our environmental tipping point, it is necessary to contemplate the reverberations of our collective and individual actions on our global ecosystems in the age of the Anthropocene.
