OTTAWA ART LOVERS CAN PURCHASE A PIECE OF LOCAL CULTURE AT THE OTTAWA ART GALLERY’S ‘LE PARTY’ ART AUCTION

October 30, 2018

Press Release

OTTAWA ON, October 30 2018  On November 8, the new Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) will host LE PARTY, a must-attend annual celebration for art and food lovers. This year’s event will celebrate both the OAG’s legacy and its future: marking the 30th anniversary of the organization as well as the first time the event will be held in the OAG’s new space.

One of Ottawa’s premier social events, LE PARTY is a silent art auction featuring works by over 65 regional artists, ranging from emerging to internationally renowned.  Over the years, close to 1,100 artists have donated their works to the art auction.

“I am very pleased to have an opportunity to participate in this year’s art auction. It is truly an honour to support our wonderful new gallery and give back to the community that has been so good to me over the years,” says local artist Philip Craig, who has work has been showcased around the world and has been chosen for this year’s auction.

Works up for auction include paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, printmaking, fashion design, mixed media, jewelry, and still photographs from film, performance works and installations. The event will also feature the popular Buy it Now program, which allows those in attendance to immediately purchase any work on auction, at market value. Works range in price from $200 – $12 000.

“LE PARTY is one of our major annual events and attracts hundreds of guests every year. We see Ottawa art lovers, both novice and long-time collectors, celebrate the incredible calibre of art from the region while also supporting programming at the Gallery.” says Ottawa Art Gallery Director and CEO, Alexandra Badzak.

Funds raised at LE PARTY are used to support the Gallery’s overall operations of educational and exhibition programming. The proceeds allow the Gallery to offer free educational programs, tours, events and permanent free admission to the Gallery. LE PARTY has raised over $1.1million over the years. This year’s title Sponsor is Downtown Rideau BIA, and Gold Sponsors are Le Germain Hotels and Ashcroft Homes.

A new community LE PARTY partnership is launched this year at an event generously sponsored by Ashcroft Homes and Monocle Westboro where guests will have the opportunity get a sneak peak of the auction pieces while mingling with Ottawa’s artistic talent. The event takes place on Thursday November 1st from 5 pm to 7 pm at 98 Richmond Road, Ottawa. Anyone interested can RSVP here: rsvp@oaggao.ca.
