The Ottawa Art Gallery is excited to celebrate and be a part of Ottawa’s 2021 Virtual Capital Pride Festival.
Each year, we look forward to collaborating with Capital Pride, an organization that strives to create opportunities to celebrate, advocate, educate and connect people that respect the diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
This year’s theme is WE STILL DEMAND! – chosen to honour the first-ever large-scale queer rights demonstration in Canada in 1971. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic protest and OAG joins Capital Pride and the Ottawa-Gatineau region in remembering all the voices that helped pave the way to the rights and freedoms we have today.
While we accept these freedoms with gratitude, OAG also recognizes the continued injustices faced by the 2SLGBTQ+ community and actively promotes and supports change towards greater equity and inclusion.
