Endless Becomings brings together eleven visionary artists who are shaping the future of contemporary art.
On the Shoulders of Giants is an exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO), showcasing work by 58 artists who have either graduated from or played a significant role in SPAO’s Photographic Arts and Production Diploma program.
Grotto showcases a selection of artworks generously donated by Bill Staubi to the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) in 2024. This exhibition pays homage to Staubi’s unwavering support for queer artists and his deep-rooted commitment to Ottawa’s vibrant contemporary art scene.
This work delves into the beauty of flowers and their Fibonacci connections, as well as cosmic fascination and intertwining Earth and lunar rhythms.
The Firestone Collection of Canadian Art is a significant art collection that spans the modern period and includes work from a wide range of Canadian art styles, geographical regions, and periods. The two largest themes represented in the collection are landscape and abstraction.
Come to the Jackson Café to discover two large murals, featuring the digital artwork of Eric Chan (aka eepmon).
This piece is a digitization of a birch bark biting that has then been reproduced through risograph printing. The biting can be interpreted as chickadees flying around flowers.

Coming Soon! ✨ The Project XO 2025 exhibition — Alexa Mazzarello: Failure to Progress — is on view this Saturday, October 4 in the Sky Lounge (level 3), and runs through November 2.
Failure to Progress is Alexa Mazzarello’s intimate exploration of birth and matrescence — the ...profound physical, emotional, and psychological transformation of becoming a mother. Through photography, collage, video, and textiles, Mazzarello draws on her own birth experiences to illuminate and demystify the often invisible realities of this life-altering transition.
The Project XO Award recognizes the merits of a publicly presented photographic project by an artist who demonstrates an ongoing connection to the Ottawa region. The award recipient is selected by a jury of arts, photography, and media experts and is presented by @spaocentre and the OAG, with supporting sponsors @centre_daimon and @wallspacegallery.

Attention, attention ! ✨ L’exposition Alexa Mazzarello | Échec du progrès (Le prix Projet XO 2025) ouvre ce samedi 4 octobre. Passez la découvrir avant le 4 novembre au niveau 3 (Salon Azur).
Échec du progrès est issu de l’exploration intime, par Alexa Mazzarello, de la naissance et de la matrescence — la profonde transformation physique, émotionnelle et psychologique qui accompagne la première maternité. En puisant dans son expérience de l’accouchement, Mazzarello passe par la photographie, le collage, la vidéo et l’art textile pour illuminer et démystifier les réalités souvent invisibles de cette transition, qui marque une vie à jamais.
Le prix Projet XO reconnaît les mérites d'un projet photographique présenté publiquement par un artiste qui démontre un lien continu avec Ottawa. Un jury composé de spécialistes en arts, en photographie et en média choisi parmi des artistes qui démontrent un lien permanent avec Ottawa. Le prix est décerné par SPAO et la Galerie d’art d'Ottawa, avec le soutien supplémentaire de Centre de production DAÏMÔN et Wall Space Gallery + Framing.

Aujourd’hui, le 25 septembre, nous célébrons fièrement le Jour des Franco-Ontariens et des Franco-Ontariennes ! 💚🤍
Cette journée souligne la contribution essentielle de la communauté francophone de l’Ontario à la vie culturelle, historique, sociale, économique et politique... de la province.
Dans cet esprit, la GAO souhaite mettre en lumière le travail de l’artiste franco-ontarienne Claire Guillemette-Lamirande, dont les œuvres font partie de la collection de la Galerie. Diplômée de l’Université d’Ottawa (1978), Claire Guillemette-Lamirande a été enseignante, artiste-peintre et photographe. Elle s’est consacrée à célébrer l’histoire franco-ontarienne ainsi qu’à défendre les droits des femmes.

This day highlights the vital contributions of Ontario’s Francophone community to the cultural, historical, social, economic, and political life of the province.
In this spirit, we are proud to highlight the work of Franco-Ontarian artist Claire Guillemette Lamirande, who’s work is part of the OAG Collection. Graduating from the University of Ottawa @uottawa in 1978, Guillemette-Lamirande was a teacher, painter, and photographer dedicated to celebrating Franco-Ontarian history and women’s rights.

Redevenirs rassemble onze artistes visionnaires en train de façonner l’avenir de l’art contemporain. Provenant de diverses générations, disciplines et perspectives culturelles, le groupe se retrouve néanmoins dans son engagement à continuellement se transformer.
Cette exposition dynamique propose des œuvres des deux cohortes les plus récentes du programme de maîtrise en arts visuels (MAV) de l’Université d’Ottawa. Elle est présentée en partenariat avec le Département d'arts visuels de l’Université d’Ottawa et la Galerie d’art d’Ottawa (GAO), une collaboration qui favorise depuis plus de 14 ans des liens significatifs entre des artistes de la relève, des commissaires et la communauté artistique locale.
